Possible applications of Systec autoclaves Sterilization of biohazardous substances

For laboratories with a biological hazard potential, controlled exhaust air ducting is essential. Safety is the top priority here - both in the laboratory and for the environment. Systec autoclaves can be equipped with exhaust air filtration including condensate inactivation. This prevents the escape of microorganisms or infectious aerosols. The process is safe, validatable and supports GMP-compliant processes and meets common international laboratory requirements, making Systec systems particularly suitable for high-security laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities and biotech companies.

Permanently monitored Exhaust air filtration with condensate activation

The optional exhaust air filtration ensures the safe handling of hazardous biological substances. An autoclavable sterile air filter in the form of a filter cartridge made of a 0.2 µm PTFE membrane reliably retains particles and microorganisms.

The filter cartridge is installed in a pressure-resistant stainless steel housing, is monitored via a PT100 temperature sensor and is sterilized inline during each sterilization process.

The condensate produced during the sterilization cycles is collected in the pressure vessel and safely inactivated together with the steam.
This means that no germs, aerosols or liquids can escape before the end of the sterilization process. This is a decisive factor for use in safety laboratories (BSL-2 to BSL-4).

Advantages:

  • Safe sterilization of hazardous biological substances
  • Inline sterilization of the exhaust air filter with every cycle
  • No leakage of germs, aerosols or liquids
  • Validatable processes for laboratory and safety environments
