As part of an international healthcare infrastructure project funded by the World Bank and managed by UNOPS, IMeBIO designed, manufactured, qualified, and delivered fully integrated modular laboratory platforms for the CNARP and LA2M laboratories in Madagascar. The project includes the integration of four Systec HX-90 2D double-door pass-through autoclaves, providing validated sterilization processes for infectious laboratory waste while maintaining the highest biosafety standards.

The Challenge
Developing a fully functional containerized BSL-3 laboratory presents unique engineering and biosafety challenges. Unlike conventional laboratory buildings, modular laboratories require every technical component to be integrated within a compact footprint while meeting stringent international containment and biosafety requirements.
For this project, IMeBIO was responsible for the complete engineering, manufacturing, qualification, and integration of the modular laboratory platforms. The objective was to deliver fully operational Plug & Play laboratories capable of supporting high-containment diagnostic activities immediately after installation.
One of the key challenges was integrating a validated sterilization solution into the laboratory concept without compromising available workspace, operational efficiency, or containment integrity. Safe decontamination of infectious laboratory waste is an essential requirement in every BSL-3 facility, making the selection of the autoclave a critical element of the overall biosafety strategy.
To meet these demanding requirements, IMeBIO selected the Systec HX-90 2D, a compact double-door pass-through autoclave specifically designed for high-containment laboratory environments.
